Entry 610

DSC_0695Entry 610: A buffalo stands off in the distance. I passed him a while back, he did not notice. He stood there with a bird upon his back. I am closer now, must take pictures. He will be none the wiser.

I stopped, had to change my lens. The bird flew away and now the buffalo faces me. His gaze fixated on me as if to make sure that I made no sudden movements. I was not close enough to capture his attention. I had no made no noise. So, how did he know that I was there. Sixth sense? Animal sense? It was probably the prairie dogs. Of course they ratted me out. Damn prairie dogs. DSC_0701I stood my ground. He stood his. I snapped my picture and now he is turning his back towards me. The threat has clearly been lifted. Either that or he feels I’m too far away to make it worth an effort. Guess I will carry on my way.

Thank you, Mr. Buffalo.DSC_0723

This….

DSC_0648 (2)This may be a bit deceiving.  It is not as it appears.  It’s not a buffalo?  Well, the scholarly will tell you no, because there are no buffalo in the United States.  It is a bison.  Soapbox, I’ll move on.  It is a buffalo.  He is grazing.  He is not at sunset.  Wait! What?  You heard me right.

This picture was actually taken in the afternoon.  High and harsh sun battling it out with some wanna be storm clouds.  For a while, the sun won.  So, why does this picture look like a silhouette at sunset?  Filters and a lot of shade.  This guy was so dark that when I shot the photo, the shadow being cast upon him made look like a silhouette against a big blue sky.   Beautiful, but not what I was really wanting.

I could have tried to turn up the shade and down the highlights.  I actually did on another, but I didn’t like the way that he looked at that moment.  I wanted something different. I wanted this and I think it looks pretty gosh darn good. Hope you do too.

Have a beautiful day and tomorrow.

One down….

DSC_8863-2bwMy first art show is done and over with.  It was by far from being a success, but I guess ultimately I knew that it would not be.  I did my best to mingle and try to connect. I think that I did okay with that part.  I learned a bit about what would work and what didn’t, so here’s to the next one.

The picture…I hope that it speaks for itself.  I did two different versions, but I think I like the top one better.  There was nothing wrong with the original.  The lighting was good enough. The backdrop was good enough…I just got bored, so I played.  I hope that you like the final result.

That….

DSC_2006bwBecause I really cannot think of anything else to say.  This boy was hiding in a ditch as I was driving the back roads of Wind Cave/Custer State (Mainly because I really cannot remember which part I was in when I saw him).  He is a beauty though. At least I think so.

Have a beautiful day and tomorrow.

Silence…

DSC_4497.jpgI have wanted to post, but have not know what to post.  I have wanted to speak, but know not what to say.  It seems as if I have a lot to say, but the words I cannot find.  The silence overwhelms me while it should be my friend.

I am sorry for the lack of blog post.  I know that it seems like quite a while.  I think that I’ve had so much going on that sitting to post has seemed overwhelming. There is so much that I want to do, that I want to get done and truth be told….it just makes me feel like time is slipping away and I just do not have enough time to do it all.  Then instead of choosing one thing, I choose nothing.  I don’t know if anyone else has this problem.  I would suspect that I’m not alone.

I won’t ramble on, I’m not sure what would come out.  I will talk about this picture.  It was underexposed, so I played around with it.  Used some filters and just toyed with it until it was something that I liked. I hope that you like it too.

Have a beautiful day and tomorrow.

That’s Okay…

DSC_0063 (2)2.jpgMy last blog didn’t fair well.  I’m learning that I probably just shouldn’t schedule them in advance.  Those fare a lot less well than the once I just do right then or there. Or it could just be that no one liked it and that is okay too.

I could ramble on, but I will not.  The post don’t fare as well either and that is okay too.  I hope this picture fares a little bit better though.  It is edited, but only slightly.  There are two versions, this one above and the one below.  I’ll let you guess what I edited. Shouldn’t be hard to see.  I’ll even give you a hint.  The one below….it makes me feel like I’m looking at a car ad.  This seems like the kind of scene most of them edge towards these days.  And that is okay too.
