Wild Stangs

DSC_0162 (2)As mentioned before, I have an insane amount of pictures to wade through.  I also have quite the amount of pictures uploaded to WordPress and I either need to delete some, or I need to upgrade my package.  I’ve not decided which yet.  I keep trying to decide the best course of action for me and how to revamp what I’ve got going on.  The most I’ve accomplished….finally getting a portion of my pictures worked through.

I have finished two sets of my wild horse photos.  This guy is from the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary in the Black Hills of South Dakota.  I’m not sure his name,  he lives with four other guys in a pasture that is separated from the bigger herds that I’ve seen.  Painted Deserted is the only horse I know for sure, but he’s pretty easy to pick out…he’s the only paint in the group.  This guy looks like a Bucky, but I don’t know for sure.  There is also a Red Roan and from what I know of Roans, this guy could be one but there was a fourth horse that I never saw.  Prairie Dancer…maybe.  Or Pat & Mike……   Maybe a Prairie Dancer, I can see that.  Either way, he’s a beautiful mustang.

That is really where my heart has been lately.  The wild mustangs and burros of the west.  I would like to do something similar to Mr. Hyde.  My land would never be as massive as his.  The Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary consists of tens of thousands of acres.  I would settle for enough to have a small herd.  Some that would be free for the rest of their lives, or at least the rest of mine.  Maybe break one, or two, I don’t know.  Right now that is a cheap wine dream on a pond water budget.  Until then, I will just stalk them with my camera.  I’m not sure where the next adventure will take me.  They are all over.  Maybe back to Colorado. A less popular location apparently has a 150 possible, I saw four….that is unacceptable and there are a ton more in the Sand Basin that I didn’t get to see.  Who knows.  We’ll see where the road takes me.

Until then, I hope you enjoy this picture.

Wild and Free

DSC_0211 (2)I feel guilty that I’ve not posted in a while.  There is no real good excuse other than I’ve just not wanted to.  I could go over the long list of reasons why, but they are neither here nor there.  They are reasons from a brain that never shuts off and a soul that constantly watches the numbers.  It also comes from a girl that has thousands upon thousands of pictures yet to edit and a spirit that has grown wearier than normal and is easily overwhelmed more than she used to be.

I had all these plans and goals. I always do and I’ve failed miserably to date.  I will not make promises, but there will be another post soon.  For now, I hope this one grabs your attention.

Have a beautiful day and tomorrow.

Wild Horses

DSC_0140 (2)Everyone who follows my blog knows how much I love horses. For those that are new, I love horses.  Actually, I love all animals.  I have the most access to horses and the zone (the dog that runs the household).

Anyway, the soul purpose of this trip was to camp, get my head on straight, and see wild horses.  There is a batch of wild horses out in Colorado and so I had decided I was ending with them.  I had debated on starting with them, but I wasn’t sure the actual plan for this trip.  There were so many things that I wanted to see and one thing I absolutely did not want to see….Chicago.

The mountains had been calling my name, so my original idea was to head to Wyoming (Yes, I could have gone to the Rockies, but Wyoming has been on my mind).  Wyoming is quite the drive from here so I wanted to stop in South Dakota and get my rest on.  South Dakota was…well, I love my Black Hills animals, but I think that this part of South Dakota and myself have done all we can do for each other.  I was bound and determined to make the best out of it.

One of the two days that I spent there, I chose to drive by the Wild Horse Sanctuary.  I hadn’t scheduled a tour and I wasn’t even sure of their off season hours, but there were four beautiful babies just off the main road that I hadn’t really gotten to see the first time.  These four babies are only a small part of the tour, because of the fact that they live in a different sanctuary.  I am not even sure if they are a part of the actual tour, but the tour guide I had last year was amazing and showed me everything that these could.

With that said, here is a sneak peak of one of the beauties.  The truth is, I cannot remember is name.  I want to say Bucky…maybe?  There is only one whose name I can remember and it is kind of obvious.  When I get to him, you will be like, “Oh, yeah…”.    I think that there is one more obvious one, but I can’t remember the fourth name.   Either way, I am pretty sure this is Bucky….which also means, it probably isn’t.

I love the eyes of an animal, so for now this is all you get.  I hope you like it.

Until the next time, have a beautiful day and tomorrow.
