Let There Be Light….

DSC_45712Or at least emphasized light.  Altered grass.  You know whichever.

These pictures have been revisited.  I went to a lunch type workshop the other day where we discussed photoshop.  I use photoshop regularly but haven’t always been able to get it to do what I want.  After the workshop, I decided to go back to something that is usually foe to my patience….curves.  Selecting particular areas and using curves.

I didn’t hate these photos.  The original edits on the top photo were amazing in of itself, but this bottom one.  Not so much.  I want to emphasize the sky as the sun was starting to set.  I wanted the badlands to stand out.  I wanted the road to lead to something.  In both.  Vision. Dreams.  I don’t know, but I wanted more than what was previously there.  Hope I nailed it.  DSC_46082Have a beautiful day and tomorrow.

Misty Morning….

DSC_7170It was a cold, windy, and rainy morning in the Badlands.  Most of the time spent in the Badlands (not to be confused with Custer State Park) was windy.   Sunny at first, but windy none the less.  On this particular morning, I chose to drive to the nearest town and grab some breakfast. I saw this tree and it was perfect.

Perfect for what I do not know, but I just loved the way that it looked in the misty, foggy morning.  I hope that you do too.  Quick side note, I did very minimum to editing of this photo. I loved it just the way it was.

Have a beautiful day and tomorrow.

Long Road….

DSC_0957.jpgIt is only April and it has been a very long road. Which sometimes seems like the theme for my every year.  This year especially, though.

I would be lying if I said that I’ve not been struggling. For well over a year now. The last few months have just heightened it all.  The need to change. The need for there to be more than what is.  It has all made my restless heart even more restless.

My restless heart has the need to chase down wild horses.  Figuratively and literally.  Some of them live too far away, the ones on Assateague I’ve already seen, and the ones in South Dakota are slated for two weeks from yesterday.    I was originally supposed to go see the ones in Arizona, but that will not happen this year.  I had to use some of vacation and will not have enough to justify the length of the drive.  With that said, I’ve decided to go to South Dakota, because I haven’t already been there.  Since I’ve seen just about all I can, I decided to go ahead and splurge on a tour of the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary.  I also use the term “wild” loosely.

I know that true wild horses are far and few in between.  I will stay off my soapbox, but…yeah.  I know that people do not see things the way that I do.  At least not a lot of people.  There are just certain practices regarding animals, wild horses, that truly annoy me.  But…I digress.

I forgot where I was going with that.  I have that problem a lot lately.  Focusing. Remembering.  Staying motivated.  It has been a struggle just to type what I have.  I am in severe need of getting right with my soul.  Here’s to hoping that I can accomplish that this trip around.  I don’t know about you, but for me…it always seems like the days leading up to vacation are the longest (and sometimes the most stressful) so I’m just kind of biting at the bit.

This picture is from last year’s trip.  It was pretty and well composed.  The sky was blue, grass was green…I was bored with it and so I played with it.  I like this version better, hope that you do too.

Have a beautiful day and tomorrow.

Angles…Perspectives

DSC_0607Or something.   Either way, I’m not sure that I have posted this particular angle of this beauty.  I couldn’t find it any of my “already used” photos anyway.  I’ve also played around with it, so even if I have….it should be different.  Should being the key word.  Just the same, I hope you like him.

Have a beautiful day and tomorrow.

Something About the…

DSC_1880.jpgBadlands. I don’t know what it is, but there is just something. I’m still in debate about whether this will be next year’s destination.  Apparently, there are wild horses in Arizona that are calling my name…if I can find them. So, we shall see.  Maybe I should. Just to see the aftermath….and of course check in on the animals that inspired my visit to begin with.

For those that have not heard, there has been a wildfire wreaking havoc on Custer State Park. It is about and hour away from the Badlands, but I always visit both.  I think at last heard they had it contained, but alas there were still some animals unaccounted for.  The wondrous begging burros. About half the herd was missing, but as of last night had been located but they had suffered burns and were being treated. The majority of the buffalo and pronghorns had been found, but I do not know about the others.  Those are just the ones that are monitored and auctioned.  Here’s to hoping they are all okay.

Have a beautiful day and tomorrow.

Sun Will Come….

DSC_16613.jpgOut tomorrow.  So ya got to hang on til tomorrow.

Actually, here I’m pretty sure that the sun will be out later. Not a cloud in the sky.  I really just needed a title, but now that song is stuck in your head.  At least those that know it is a song.  You are also picturing Little Orphan Annie.  Aren’t you?  Singing it loud.  That’s okay, go ahead and sing it with her.

Have a beautiful day and tomorrow.
