Goes there? Better not come any closer.
This little guy. It actually took me a minute to figure out what it was. Had I not been able to get as close as I did, I probably wouldn’t have figured it out until after the fact.
When I saw this guy, I had just gotten done saying to myself that I wanted to see an owl. It kind of donned on me that I’ve never actually gotten to see one in person and..I wanted to see one. So, I made a wish. Well, not really…but I did say it out loud and like the coyote and the deer (this was pre-mountain goats), so let it be said…so let it be seen.
I was driving in prairie dog haven, passing along this fence line. Upon one of the post was the biggest bird that I had ever seen, that I wasn’t able to recognize as a hawk or vulture or eagle. I pulled over and stopped the car. As I was getting out of the car, I was still thinking that it was just a regular bird. Then he turned and looked at me. Kid in a candy store excitement.
Once I realized that it was an owl, I was almost as excited as I was to see the mountain goats….almost. I mean, they were mountain goats and it was like seeing big foot or a unicorn. Very pretty, rock scaling unicorns. Anyway, I was excited.
I didn’t have a lot of time to mess with my camera, because he was on the search for food. I think these were actually the only two that I managed to get. I’ll take it.
These were not the best shots, but I still liked them enough to share.
Have a beautiful day and tomorrow.

Pretty exciting, and he stopped long enough for you to get the shot – yeah!
Have a great weekend!
