Standing In….

DSC_5764.jpgthe middle of nowhere.  Sometimes that is the best place to be.

Have a beautiful day and tomorrow.

DSC_6371.jpgNo, I’m just kidding, it’s a pronghorn.  I think that I’ve already had that little rant in another post.  No?  Yes?  Maybe?  Either way, I will stay off of it here.  Let’s just say that Gene Autry was wrong and there are no antelopes in the United States.  I’m just going to shake my head in annoyance in that one and laugh a bit.

I don’t know why but I’m much more willing to call this a pronghorn than antelope, unlike my buffalo which for the most part…I refuse to call bison (even though I know they are actually bison).  Another soapbox I will stay off of.

I hope that you have a beautiful day and tomorrow.

Shadow of a Tail…..

DSC_5759.jpgI don’t really know what else to say.  I just really love this picture.  Even if his tail is only a shadow.

Have a beautiful day and tomorrow.

dsc_7414Goes there?  Better not come any closer.

This little guy.  It actually took me a minute to figure out what it was.  Had I not been able to get as close as I did, I probably wouldn’t have figured it out until after the fact.

When I saw this guy, I had just gotten done saying to myself that I wanted to see an owl.  It kind of donned on me that I’ve never actually gotten to see one in person and..I wanted to see one.  So, I made a wish.  Well, not really…but I did say it out loud and like the coyote and the deer (this was pre-mountain goats), so let it be said…so let it be seen.

I was driving in prairie dog haven, passing along this fence line. Upon one of the post was the biggest bird that I had ever seen, that I wasn’t able to recognize as a hawk or vulture or eagle.  I pulled over and stopped the car.  As I was getting out of the car, I was still thinking that it was just a regular bird. Then he turned and looked at me.  Kid in a candy store excitement.

Once I realized that it was an owl, I was almost as excited as I was to see the mountain goats….almost.  I mean, they were mountain goats and it was like seeing big foot or a unicorn.  Very pretty, rock scaling unicorns.  Anyway, I was excited.

I didn’t have a lot of time to mess with my camera, because he was on the search for food. I think these were actually the only two that I managed to get.  I’ll take it.

These were not the best shots, but I still liked them enough to share.  dsc_7419
