The Light

DSC_8265Through the mist and the trees, the morning sun made its debut.  With a light breeze of crisp, early morning air…the weather was just right. She made her way up the trail. Through the dirt and leaves, sticks and rocks.  Greeted by squirrels and chipmunks.  Startled by groundhogs scurrying away.  It was enough to make her smile.

With each approaching step, the sun became brighter.  Highlighting the trees with its rays.  It was as if it was bragging, “Look at what I can do.”  Brag on, sun.  Brag on.  She had seen many of beauty throughout her travels, but nothing like this.  There was an unsettling goodness about the vision before her.  The sun had earned the right.

As she continued to walk on,  each step created an increased feeling of peace.  A feeling that settled in deep and filled each crevice of her soul.  Cares had slipped away. Stress no longer existed.   Her spirit had reawakened.  She did not know if this feeling would last, just that she would forever remember the moment it began.

Jurassic World….

DSC_0220.jpgThis is not at all Jurassic World, but I didn’t really have a picture suitable for that such title.  What does Jurassic World have to do with anything?  They are having an exhibit here in Fort Wayne this weekend, so I will accompanying my nieces and nephew to take a gander.

I reckon it should be fun.  The two younger ones adore me. I’m still the cool aunt for at least another four to six years.  Kids.  They’re funny aren’t they.  We have fun.

As for the picture…it is from somewhere in South Dakota.  I know. You’re shocked aren’t you.  I guess, though. It really could have been anywhere. I’ve not been a lot of places since returning,  so the majority of them will be from South Dakota for quite a while.  This particular shot is from Needles Highway, I think, or on the way to.

I had stopped to catch a woodpecker.  Actually, no, that’s not true. I stopped for this shot, but the woodpecker was a bonus.  You’re just going to have to wait to see him, though.

Have a beautiful day and tomorrow.

Late To the Game

DSC_8421I’m a little late to the game today.  I meant to post this so much sooner, but I couldn’t decide what to write about.  I wanted it to be perfect or at least acceptable and none of it was…to me.  I keep meaning to take time out at night to schedule post for the next morning, but then (like a few days ago) I decide it is not good enough and not what I actually wanted.

I’ve just been so busy.  That sounds like an excuse, but between feeding horses and trying to schedule in guitar practice and work and spending quality time with the zone (and the little white fur ball) and then on top of work and trying to get the school thing back in order….well, it has all just been a bit much.  I sometimes just want to crawl under a rock.

You know the kind of rock that sets just right in the morning sun.  Alone on my blanket with nature.  The sun rays beaming through and lighting up the pages of my journal so I can scribble away.  It’s been a while since I’ve done that, but sometimes that is when my mind is the clearest.  I know…you are probably shocked. 🙂

Have a beautiful day and tomorrow.
