Red Dawn

DSC_0733I was saving this picture for another day, but I may use it as a repost if that day ever comes.

Just a simple picture of a beautiful morning.

Have a beautiful day and tomorrow.

Free Bird

“If I leave here tomorrow
Would you still remember me
For I must be travelin’ on now
There’s too many places I got to see”

Who doesn’t know “Free Bird” by Lynyrd Skynyrd.  I’m sure there a lot of people that don’t, but I think that not knowing Lynyrd Skynyrd might be right up there with not knowing the Beatles, Elvis Presley, or the Rolling Stones.  I could be wrong, but just the same.

I’m actually a “Tuesday’s Gone” kind of girl and definitely “Sweet Home Alabama”, but I’d never forgive myself if I didn’t give props where it is due and throw  “Free Bird” into the mix.

“‘Cause I’m as free as a bird now
And this bird you cannot change
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
And the bird you cannot change
And this bird you cannot change
Lord knows, I can’t change”

I’ve lost my train of thought.  Oh, yes, the free bird. This was as good as I could get.  When I first saw him, I had to run back to the car and get my good lens.  Then I got cocky and tried to get too close.  I mean, he was up in a tree, but I still tried to get too close to the tree and he flew off across the water to the tree in the picture.

I did catch a few of him in flight, but they were horrible.  He, or others, did let some photographers get some good shots in. I saw them on the Assateague”s official Facebook page.  They were some beautiful shots and  I would have loved to have captured some of the shots that these photographers did. I, however, was never that fortunate.  I still consider a privilege just being able to see him, though.  Cheesy, I know.

I think that was all I had to say, my mind has gone blank.  Well, I guess I will leave it with this, “Tuesday’s gone with the wind” as is this blog post.   Fly high my little birdies.

Have a beautiful day and tomorrow.

Morning Light

There she stood upon her 39th birthday
Staring at the ocean before her
So many things that led her to this point
She knew not the decision she would make

The wind was crisp against her skin
Waves cold against her feet
Sun warm against her face
Sensations as broad as the emotions she held

So much anger
So much pain
Tears upon tears
Defeat long taking over

She closed her eyes
She took a breath
The moment was upon her
She took a step

Not sure of the time that had passed
When she opened her eyes
Years had gone by
Little fingers played with hers

She looked down and smiled
Then over at the eyes that smiled back
That day never left her mind
It kept her moving forward

Had it gone the other way
Would have been the weakest choice
What she chose
Made her stronger for the moment

She looked upon the ocean
Smiled  with contentment
Life is what she had chosen
Life is what she got

Have a beautiful day and tomorrow.

Star Wars Kind of Day

DSC_0433I obviously do not have  a picture of Star Wars, but that is what I did this morning.  Yes, I am a Star Wars junkie (for the most part).  I didn’t do that whole Phantom Menace debacle that took place in-between. I tried, but just couldn’t get into it.  Maybe some day I will try again.

Anyway, it was well worth the $4.50 matinee and the fourth row seating.  The theater wasn’t really that crowded, but I’m a little obsessive compulsive about where I sit in a movie theater and I have to be able to sit in somewhere that allows me to basically be in the middle of the screen.  I know..weird.

I’m sure that the movie is worth more than that, but I’m cheap so…there’s that.  I recommend, though. Especially, if you grew up on the original Star Wars trilogy. Or even the prequel trilogy.  That is my simple review for this Sunday.

Have a beautiful day and tomorrow.

Sham It Again

DSC_0190 (2)The Sham.  Such a beautiful boy and he was a rock star model on this trip.  He was also a different boy.

Maybe it is because I have never stayed on the beach side before. Maybe he really was a different boy.  Whatever it may be, the Sham apparently has a rebellious side.

He and his two girls were ransacking campsites that weekend stay, including mine.  Kind of. I managed to grab my chips and the zone before Sham’s main girl got to the picnic table.  The zone was not impressed.   I was. They had no shame.

I wonder about Sham.  Not his health, but the first time I met him…he was with two completely different girls.  Ninka and Sierra.  Then this past May they had gained two more.  My November trip, it was just Sham and the two new girls.

Sierra and Ninka were nowhere to be found. I mean, nowhere.  Didn’t see them once.  Provided…there were places I could not go.  Still, they were not in their typical hiding places.  I just can’t help but wonder what happened to them.  I am hopeful they are fine and roaming the island elsewhere, but I digress.

As for Sham.  When it was he, Ninka, and Sierra…well, they tried to avoid people.  For the most part it seemed.  Now, Sham no longer seemed to really care.   I mean, whether or not there were people around.  At one point, he shoved his way through myself and a couple I was talking with.  We were apparently in his way.  I mean, the rest of the road…those extra steps to go around. He is the king, I’m just sayin’.

It might not be fair to blame the girls.  They apparently are younger girls.  Younger and more rebellious.  Plus, the island has become overrun with tourist compared to what it once was.  At least from when I first discovered it.

Even over a holiday weekend,  the campers there….ample amounts.  Not just hunters. I expected hunters.  These were families.  Families there to see the horses. I get it, I do.  That was why I was there. Still…I don’t really know how to explain it.  The island just felt different.  It had changed.

Sham, maybe he really has changed too.  Maybe he had to.  People everywhere…can’t beat them, join them?  Maybe?  It could really be anything. I shouldn’t try to speculate.

I have since lost my train of thought.  Amazing how that sometimes happens.  Anyway, I guess that I will spare you anymore of my rambling.

Have a beautiful day and tomorrow.
