I have my eye on you
Over there where you stand
I’ll let you have this moment
But if you move
I will too
and I guarantee you this
I’ll move faster than you
The deer were out in full force. I love deer. Well, okay, so I love all animals. Deer, though. I see them the most.
One time in Indiana I was walking this trail. I was minding my own when I spotted a deer. Long after he had spotted me. I quickly realized that I should not move. He was not alone. I’d like to say there were a few, but that would be far from the truth.
I don’t remember if I stepped on something or if the noise came from a distance, but the next thing I knew there were deer running amok. At least a dozen and that is not an exaggeration. I apparently had walked smack dab in the middle of their grazing. Totally worth it.
Another time, just a few years back, I was walking the trail of my favorite park. There is this little off the beaten path that goes to this little “pond area.” I call it this, because when it rains, or the snow melts, ,it floods every time. Anyway, someone built a little log bridge out there (not long enough to fight the pond. I think they were just bored, but I digress). I walked out on it and felt eyes on me.
I hadn’t seen them as I walked up, but there was half a dozen deer of all sizes staring at me. The leader in my line. I just smiled and stood still. Eventually, they just hopped away.
It says deer symbolize a lot of things. I will spare you the details. I don’t know what deer mean to you. They may mean nothing, but to me…there’s something to be said when they just sit there and lock eyes with you.
Have a beautiful day and tomorrow.
