Hello, world!!

I’m not a fan of “about me” sections. Trying to come up with all this interesting information that just grabs readers’ attention and makes them want to stay.  I’m convinced that I’d have better luck trying to learn French in a single day.

I just never know what to say. What possibly could be interesting enough about me to just grab people’s attention?  That I like long walks on the beach?  They’re not my go to choice.  That I love singing?  I sing along with the radio, but trust me when I say no one wants to hear that (and I’m not talking about the fact that I like singing along with the radio…I mean the singing itself).  How about the fact that I’ve now typed this post like five times, because I have a new laptop that I’m still getting use to?  That’s a little intimate for a first post, but seriously.  What can I possibly say?  I honestly don’t know. So, I will do what I do best and just say what comes to me.  Watch out, world!

Truth is. I’m a dreamer. I’m a fighter. I’m a storyteller. I’m a writer. I’m a dancer (better dancer than singer).  I’m a baker. I’m a photographer. I’m a traveler. I’m a wandering soul.  I’m a country girl and a boot fanatic (I’d say the word that is more likely true, but I don’t want to offend anyone).  I’m a horse lover and addicted to nature.  I’m a restless soul that is constantly on the move and looking for an adventure, but more than anything….I’m so much more than meets the eye (and what I can put into writing).

This blog was actually created by accident, but I decided to run with it.  Blogging just hasn’t been my forte.  It is not that I don’t have anything to say. I have plenty of things to say.  It is not that I don’t like to write. I actually love writing. Writing and photography actually tie in my level of passion for them.  I do poetry, but it is mediocre at best and has a small following, but I like stories…I’m good at stories.  This is why blogging is difficult for me.  I’m a story-teller and I’m a wordy story-teller and apparently being wordy in the blog world is a faux pas.  I’m also a soap box person, but that is one I will save for another day.

My intention for this blog  (if you can’t tell by the name) is my photography and promoting all that is that (and my wordiness writing). I have this vision of posting these amazing pictures (or at least pictures that I think are amazing) and having these funny, inspiring, crazy, passionate stories go along with them.  I also had visions of owning a room that was dedicated to nothing but my ample pairs of boots…so there’s that, but you never know unless you try.

So, if you’ve made this far, I’ve somehow managed to keep your attention and I’m about to hit my limit on the acceptable amount of words for a blog post.  I plan on keeping this blog going as long as I possibly can and I’m really hoping that my stories and photography are successful in my dream for them.  If you’ve made it this far, I hope you’ll continue to give me the chance to prove to you that it may actually be worth the ride.

I’m Shawn Marie, owner and photographer of Montana Rose Photography and I thank you for taking the time to read my first post.  Live, laugh, love, and let it ride.

  1. Thanks for following me… I thought you were. 🙂 BTW, things went from bad to worse in Lafayette for me and my friends. It turns out I know the dad of the younger woman who was killed and I’ve worked with the older woman on various events. But, I’m horrible with names. The minute I saw her picture… Have a good thought for us. I don’t think we’ve been this sad in this house for a long, long time.

    • I was following you, but my laptop mouse is super sensitive and I thought I was clicking on one thing and apparently clicked on the follow, which unfollowed so then I had to refollow. This laptop drives me insane, but what can you do.

I am so terribly sorry to hear all of this. I wish I had the words, but this is just such a horrible and heart wrenching event. My thought and hearts are with all of you.

      • Probably WordPress, not your mouse. They can be very weird at times. There are no words. In New Orleans we know about death. We mourn, we dance and we parade. It’s a ritual. But, that’s because we understand that death is part of life. This had nothing to do with that. This is just evil. Thank you so much.

  2. I was always thinking the same and wasn’t a fan of about me. And that’s why I completely wrote something off topic there. ☺️I know at some point I will change it but for now. I’m good not having it about me

  3. Hello…I am a brand-new blogger. Loved your lengthy “About Me”. I have to wonder, in that I haven’t read your past blogs, how did 4 years of blogging not address that topic? I intend with time to take a look at the photos in past blogs, I have a feeling you are a creative soul to the core!

    • Hi, Shellie!

So sorry it took me so long to respond. I took a step back from the blog world to gain my bearings back.

I’m glad that you loved what you read. It has been so long since I wrote that, I’m not even sure I remember what all it says. Oh my…I should probably go back and read it.

Some of my blogs are just pictures, I try to write and then the words just do not come. I’m hoping to change that a bit and I’m not sure they always truly show my creative side.

Anyway, thank you so much for stopping by and I hope to “see” you again!

Have a beautiful day and tomorrow.
